In order to counteract the huge increases in health insurance costs that are a result of Obamacare, we need to find ways to change another unfortunate result of the health care law - a lack of affordable choice. Today the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee (HELP) Chairman Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., and Ranking member Patty Murray, D-Wash., held the first of four hearings on stabilizing the market and making health care more affordable. Wyoming and Oklahoma both only have one insurer left in the individual market. I appreciated some of the suggestions for increasing choice offered by Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John Doak, especially allowing small businesses to pool together to offer their employees better, more affordable, health insurance. More to come.
